New York -- The Association of Corporate Counsel asked a Pennsylvania appeals court Friday to reverse a ruling that Pepper Hamilton LLP turn over documents from Pennsylvania State University’s independent investigation into the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal, raising concerns about the erosion of attorney-client privilege in future investigations.

In an amicus brief filed with the state’s Superior Court, the ACC voiced alarm that a trial court ruling in a suit by the family of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno over the NCAA’s sanctions against the university could discourage other organizations from pursuing their own investigations.

The AAC is represented by in-house counsel Amar Sarwal and Wendy Ackerman along with Burt Rublin of Ballard Spahr LLP.
