Jon Laria, Managing Partner of Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, testified before the city Planning Commission on Thursday in his capacity as chairman of the mayor’s Bicycle Advisory Commission.

Mr. Laria says he’s an "accidental cycling advocate" who enjoys riding his bike on the weekends. A few years ago, he noticed that Baltimore had fallen behind other cities when it came to supporting cycling. So, he organized a meeting about the city's bike infrastructure through the Greater Baltimore Committee to spark conversation. He was later appointed to champion the improvement of the city’s cycling infrastructure.

The Planning Commission unanimously endorsed a master bike plan that calls for the addition of 253.6 miles of trails and bike lanes throughout the city over the next 15 years and a bike share program, among other initiatives.
