Ballard Spahr partner Tom Sager received the Lawyers of Color Legacy Award March 18 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes Sager’s exceptional career and efforts to advance diversity in the legal profession.

Sager has also been named to Lawyers of Color’s Annual Power List, a comprehensive catalog of the country’s most influential minority attorneys and nonminority legal diversity advocates, including corporate general counsel, law firm managing partners, law school deans, and high-ranking government attorneys.

Before joining Ballard Spahr in September, Sager spent nearly four decades with DuPont Co., where he finished his tenure as General Counsel. Sager helped pioneer the DuPont Convergence and Law Firm Partnering Program—or DuPont Legal Model—which has become a benchmark in the industry and has received national acclaim for its innovative approach to the business of practicing law. The program redefined the way in which law firms measure success, encourage creativity and collaboration, increase efficiency, and retain and promote women and minorities.
