Financial services organizations and banks are faced with a rapidly changing legal environment that requires near-constant contact with outside counsel, and the law firms that best foster such client relationships are the ones most likely to flourish, general counsel said in a just-released survey by BTI Consulting Group Inc., the Client Relationship Scorecard.

Alan S. Kaplinsky, Practice Leader of Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group, told Law360 that Ballard Spahr has developed a reputation as one of the leaders in handling consumer financial products issues within the legal industry. Ballard Spahr's attorneys provide free, in-house continuing legal education training to clients, and the firm has an attorney who serves strictly as a full-time client interviewer. "We can tailor it (the interview) to the particular client's needs; we can talk about problems that an individual client needs," said Mr. Kaplinsky.
