Ballard Spahr partner Craig Circosta, one of 26 mergers and acquisitions attorneys identified by BTI Consulting as being at the top of their field for client service, said there is a lot of pressure on M&A attorneys in the current economic climate because of the scarcity of deals.

Mr. Circosta, Practice Leader of Ballard Spahr's Mergers and Acquisitions/Private Equity Group, said buyers are taking more in-depth looks at sellers while sellers want their attorneys to find ways to make the deal process shorter and more efficient. That requires attorneys to be more creative in their approach to client service.

“I think one thing I do and that my practice group does well is take a practical approach to the deal and getting the deal closed,” Mr. Circosta said. “It's a combination of creativity, problem solving and responsiveness. That is what we strive for.”

The attorneys listed on the 2014 BTI Client Service All-Stars report were nominated by the general counsel at their corporate clients for their exceptional work in handling clients' needs and issues.
