Ballard Spahr partner Dee Spagnuolo recently married her longtime companion at their home, in spite of a ban on same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania. Ms. Spagnuolo and Sasha Ballen were awarded the first same-sex marriage license in the state when officials in Montgomery County chose to ignore the ban.

Ms. Spagnuolo told, "It feels, in many ways, the way it did yesterday, living in our home with our children. The only thing Montgomery County court did was make our marriage stronger." She and Ms. Ballen have three small children together. After receiving their marriage license, they quickly threw together a traditional family wedding, in the aftermath of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane's announcement that she has no intention of defending the state's ban.
