Two software companies, HireVue and MasterControl, were enticed by incentives from the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to expand in Utah. $1.5 million in incentives were approved for HireVue and $836,059 in incentives were approved for MasterControl. Both companies are based in Utah.

Jerold G. Oldroyd, Chair of the GOED's incentives committee and a partner at Ballard Spahr's Salt Lake City office, commented on MasterControl's decision to accept the Utah tax incentive. “This is a company that was grown in Utah, developed in Utah, financed in Utah, capitalized in Utah and we’d be very, very happy to see it continue to grow in Utah. It would be horrible to see it go to Texas,” Mr. Oldroyd said.
