Ballard Spahr added a longtime Ernst & Young partner with corporate experience to its Los Angeles office, expanding its Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group to the West Coast.

Diane A. Thompson joined the firm after working two years as the senior vice president of human resources for engineering firm AECOM Technology Corp. Before that she worked for 12 years in Ernst & Young's Los Angeles office, where she formed and managed the global human resources consulting division.

At Ballard Spahr, Ms. Thompson will focus on employee benefits and compensation and on assisting employers with responding to and complying with the Affordable Care Act.
