Eileen Klein made a significant mark on Arizona state government during her three years as Gov. Jan Brewer’s chief of staff. The state Board of Regents recently offered her its president’s position and, while she has yet to accept the offer, there is no shortage of speculation on what her potential departure might mean.

Joseph A. Kanefield, who served as Gov. Brewer’s general counsel and who is currently a litigation partner in Ballard Spahr’s Phoenix office, said whoever replaces Ms. Klein will have big shoes to fill. But they’ll also have the blueprint that she established.

“I think she set in place a good model for success. And I would assume that whoever replaces her will continue to follow her lead,” Mr. Kanefield said.
