Vince Young, until recently a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has filed a request in New York state court to obtain an order to stop a sports-apparel company from collecting on a large loan he claims he never took out. Mr. Young claims he not only never took out the $1.7 million loan but never received any money from it.

Ballard Spahr litigation partner Sean J. Bellew is representing the company, Pro Player, in the matter. Pro Player claims that Mr. Young defaulted on the loan in the spring, soon after signing a one-year contract with the Bills. (He has since been released by the team.)

In an e-mail exchange with Mr. Young's attorney, Mr. Bellew wrote: "We are going to get our client's money, so your client should stop compounding his problem and pay us immediately. Your client was not in camp several months back when this issue first came to a head and he decided to thumb his nose at us. The time to talk is past."
