Big-box chain Lowe’s has pulled out of its plan to anchor the proposed 25th Street Station retail/housing development in Remington. The project is slated for 329,000 square feet of retail and 70 apartments. While Lowe’s is no longer part of the plan, Walmart remains committed to it.

Ballard Spahr partner Jon M. Laria is representing the project’s developer, Rick Walker of WV Urban Development. “It’s unfortunate that Lowe’s is pulling back, but Lowe’s is not a make or break tenant for the project,” Mr. Laria told the Baltimore Business Journal. “The project will proceed.”

Meanwhile, the project is on hold due to the outcome of appeals of two lawsuits that sought to block the development. Mr. Laria said the appeals are due to be heard in January.
