First Responders and their spouses will receive free wills and estate planning during a day-long Wills for Heroes program to be held at the Bryn Mawr Fire Company in Bryn Mawr. The session is presented by the Montgomery Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

The program was created in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11. Despite the dangerous nature of their jobs, between 80 and 90 percent of first responders lack appropriate estate planning. The Wills for Heroes program was initiated in Pennsylvania by Daniel McKenna, an attorney at Ballard Spahr and board member and current president of the Wills for Heroes Foundation. The Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division adopted Wills for Heroes as one of its statewide public service projects in 2009 and the program is a cornerstone of Ballard Spahr's storied pro bono efforts.
