More and more law firms are establishing or formalizing practice groups to counsel clients on discovery practices and oversee management of large-scale eDiscovery. Philip Yannella came to Ballard Spahr from Dechert to lead the firm’s E-Discovery and Data Management practice. He represents large companies on eDiscovery issues in "bet the company" litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical and health care industries. Mr. Yannella has counseled clients on litigation hold implementation, protocols for discovery coordination and management, vendor selection, and overall discovery strategy and litigation readiness.

"E-Discovery is on every general counsel's radar and, with Phil's experience handling massive data retrieval and production projects on very high-profile litigation matters, we can provide an even more sophisticated level of service in this important area," said Ballard Spahr Chair Arthur Makadon. "We have an experienced eDiscovery team and we will look to Phil to marshal our eDiscovery resources, with immediate benefits for our clients and our Litigation Department."
