A developer unveiled preliminary plans to dramatically remake the former Magarity Ford site in Chestnut Hill by demolishing the existing building and transforming the site into a mix of retail and residential. More detailed plans that include a traffic impact study and specific designs will be shared with neighborhood residents in May, said Ballard Spahr partner Matthew N. McClure, attorney for the developer.

Mr. McClure, who said his client has been working on the development “quietly, over about 18 months,” described the project as “a little bit out of the ordinary.”
