Companies across the consumer financial services industry use, or are being affected by, data aggregation activities – as providers and/or users of consumers’ financial account information. This webinar will begin with a baseline description of how data aggregation services work. We will explore the various use cases for data aggregation technologies and their potential regulatory issues, including issues regarding compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, liability for unauthorized transactions under Regulation E, and unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices. We will also discuss the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s principles on data aggregation and how companies have responded in the months since it was released.
