The U.S. Department of Labor’s new overtime rule doubles minimum salary levels for the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime exemptions. The final rule—which takes effect December 1, 2016—will require sweeping changes to the employment relationships between employers and many of their employees. Employers in all industries must be ready, and preparations should begin as soon as possible.
