Recent changes in the regulatory framework in Europe provide good reason for U.S. companies that do business in Europe or provide online services to European customers to assess their practices. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will replace the existing EU Data Protection Directive and will impose additional obligations on companies regarding their privacy and information security infrastructure.

The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, which will facilitate cross border transfer of personal data, will impose similar obligations and comes with a significant oversight mechanism. Companies may need to do extensive preparation to comply.

In this webinar, we will discuss:

• What companies need to do now to prepare to self-certify under the Privacy Shield Framework to facilitate the transfer of personal data from the EU to the United States

• What increased oversight will mean for Privacy Shield companies

• How to comply with the impending GDPR
