After more than 20 years in public service, William H. Cole IV was appointed President and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake in August 2014. BDC, Baltimore City’s economic development agency, is responsible for growing the City by attracting and retaining businesses, expanding job opportunities for city residents, and increasing investment in city neighborhoods.

Twice elected to the Baltimore City Council (2007 and 2011), Bill Cole represented Baltimore City’s 11th District for seven years before resigning to lead the BDC. Bill's district included the Inner Harbor, Downtown, portions of the Port of Baltimore, and more than a dozen residential neighborhoods throughout south, central, and west Baltimore. Bill previously served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1998 to 2002 and was Special Assistant to U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings from 1996 to 2003. He was the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the University of Baltimore from 2003 until his BDC appointment in 2014.

Please join us to hear about Bill's vision for BDC and for Baltimore, and particularly to learn about Baltimore's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, a long-awaited and much-needed plan to guide economic development in the City, which is being developed at BDC under Bill's leadership.
