The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is developing new rules to govern the collection of consumer debts. The rulemaking will likely affect not only third-party debt collectors and debt buyers, but also creditors collecting their own debts in their own names and creditors making plans to sell their own debts at some point in the future.

This Ballard Spahr presentation, the first in an ongoing series focusing on the CFPB, will cover the Bureau's current posture toward debt collection issues and where things are headed.
