The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau officially opened for business on July 21, 2011. On that date, named the "designated transfer date," nearly all of the consumer financial protection functions formerly performed by the Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and other federal agencies transferred to the CFPB under the Dodd-Frank Act. In April 2014, we will reach the 1,000th day since the CFPB became fully operational.

Over this period, the CFPB has embarked on an aggressive agenda and dramatically changed the face of the consumer financial services industry. We expect the CFPB's level of activity to only intensify in 2014. In this webinar, we will focus on the CFPB's recent and upcoming initiatives.

  • How the CFPB is approaching the industry's implementation of its new regulations regarding mortgage origination and servicing

  • The status of rules and studies involving prepaid cards, debt collection, payday and deposit advance loans, overdraft fees, and arbitration

  • The CFPB's use of its "larger participant" rulemaking authority to supervise nonbanks and what industries will be next

  • Its focus on student loan servicing, campus financial products, and protection of servicemembers

  • Its response to industry criticism of its indirect auto finance guidance and use of disparate impact

  • Its plans to scrutinize credit card add-on products, rewards programs, deferred interest products, and other areas

  • Examination issues and enforcement efforts
