The CFPB recently published a white paper titled "CFPB Study of Overdraft Programs," which was purportedly intended to provide a factual basis to aid efforts in promoting consistent treatment of overdrafts by financial institutions. For financial institutions, it is likely a shot across the bow that rulemaking in this area is coming.
In this webinar, Ballard Spahr is partnering with Profit Insight, LLC, a financial services consulting firm. We will focus on helping financial institutions understand the current state of the law for overdrafts, what the Study examined and found, what it could mean, and how financial institutions might prepare for and respond to the impact of new rulemaking in this area.
Topics
- Overview of the current law on overdraft (including a summary of recent case law and any related developments in this area)
- Discussion and explanation of the CFPB Study of Overdraft Programs, including its purpose, findings, and conclusions
- Suggestions on how banks can prepare themselves for additional regulation in this area
