The U.S. Supreme Court held on June 26 that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. Please join us for a panel discussion of the Court’s ruling and its implications.

  • Provide a brief procedural history surrounding same-sex marriage and an overview of the Supreme Court's opinion in Windsor v. United States
  • Highlight some of the income tax and estate planning issues that may be raised by a changing definition of marriage at the state and federal levels
  • Discuss how the decision will affect employee benefit plans, leave policies, and other opportunities that companies give married workers, and what steps employers should be taking to ensure compliance and control risk
