No industry is exempt from the surge in Fair Labor Standards Act claims, and recent efforts by the U.S. Department of Labor make an end to this surge unlikely. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on settlements, verdicts, and attorneys' fees to defend these claims. It is critical that in-house counsel and human resources professionals on the front lines of wage and hour disputes be alert to their companies' potential liability.

This program will spotlight recent big-ticket wage and hour verdicts and settlements and what you can learn from them. The most prevalent wage and hour issues—including calculating overtime, donning and doffing, training time, meal breaks, exempt status, and bonuses—will be reviewed. We will also address practical steps to take in self-audits involving these issues and how an employer can recognize when there is a problem.
