Raymond G. Truitt, a leading real estate attorney and Ballard Spahr’s Managing Partner of Finance and Operations, has been named Chair of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2014 U.S. Law Conference.

Mr. Truitt will be responsible for leading the planning and organizing of next year’s conference, to be held in Orlando. Mr. Truitt has served on the Law Conference Program Committee since 2006 and was Co-Chair of the 2013 conference. He will be the fourth Ballard Spahr partner to serve as Chair.

“This conference provides an invaluable opportunity to discuss legal developments affecting retail real estate while networking with colleagues from across the country” said Mr. Truitt, a Real Estate Department partner in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office.

Mr. Truitt focuses on commercial real estate financing, leasing, development, and restructuring. As Managing Partner of Finance and Operations, he manages the business operations for the firm’s 14 offices across the country.

Mr. Truitt has been recognized for 11 consecutive years with the highest ranking by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and for 16 consecutive years in The Best Lawyers in America. He is a frequent speaker at the Law Conference and a contributor to various ICSC publications. Mr. Truitt is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and serves on the advisory boards for the College of Arts and Sciences of Loyola University Maryland and the Edward St. John Real Estate Program at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

Founded in 1957, the ICSC is the shopping center industry’s premier global trade association, with more than 60,000 members in approximately 90 countries.
