Ballard Spahr has earned Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for its success in providing professional opportunities and leadership roles for women attorneys. The firm is among a select group of law firms meeting several strict criteria to gain certification.

With this certification, WILEF recognizes large firms that consistently reward women with the management positions and advancement that men have long enjoyed. Ballard Spahr joins other honorees whose female attorneys represent at least 10 percent of firm chairs and office managing partners, comprise 25 percent or more of practice leaders and department heads, and account for 20 percent or more of equity partners.

“We are honored and proud to have earned the Forum’s Gold Standard Certification. This latest recognition for Ballard Spahr simply validates what most of us have known for a long time: that this is a great place for women lawyers to work, grow, and advance,” said Jennifer L. Miller, Co-Chair of Ballard Spahr’s life sciences/technology practice group and head of Ballard Women, an affinity group of partners that focuses on marketing, leadership, and mentoring among the firm’s female lawyers.

Ballard Spahr has a deep and longstanding commitment to women’s initiatives, offering participation in several affinity groups that provide support and mentoring. The firm’s Ballard Women group plans marketing events designed for women clients and prospective clients, devises programs to train and mentor women attorneys, and supports women attorneys in seeking leadership positions within and outside the firm, as well as in building professional networks and growing as counselors and civic leaders. The Female Non-Partner Lawyers Group provides participating lawyers with opportunities for networking, mentoring, and professional development.
