Steven W. Suflas, a noted labor and employment lawyer and the managing partner of Ballard Spahr’s New Jersey office, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

As a trustee, Mr. Suflas will provide managerial guidance to the association. The NJSBA promotes equal access to justice for New Jersey residents, provides educational opportunities to lawyers, educates the public about the legal system, and sometimes acts as amicus curiae in pending cases before state and federal courts. As the voice of New Jersey attorneys, the NJSBA also works closely with lawmakers on legislation that affects the practice of law in the Garden State.

“I have been practicing law in New Jersey for 35 years, and I always have found the activities of the Bar Association in general, and those of the Labor and Employment Law Section in particular, to be great value, both professionally and personally. I consider it an honor to now be in a position to give back, by helping the Bar Association continue its mission to promote a strong legal profession and a fair and accessible system of justice,” said Mr. Suflas, who will serve a two-year term.

Mr. Suflas is a past Chair of the NJSBA’s Labor & Employment Law Section and serves on the Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics for the New Jersey Supreme Court. At Ballard Spahr, he represents management in all phases of labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining and traditional labor law issues, employment litigation, ERISA, and wage and hour law. Mr. Suflas is also a member of the firm’s Elected Board.
