Edward G. Rendell, former Pennsylvania Governor and partner at Ballard Spahr, received the Fox Rothschild Center for Law and Society's 2011 Judge Edward R. Becker Citizenship Award on April 28.

Presented in memory of the Honorable Edward R. Becker, longtime judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the award recognizes Gov. Rendell's decades of exemplary public service in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. During his 25-year tenure with the Court, Judge Becker authored more than 2,000 appellate opinions and emerged among the most distinguished federal judges of his time. Previous recipients of the Citizenship Award include the Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell, also of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and Sister Mary Scullion of Project H.O.M.E.

Gov. Rendell, who rejoined Ballard Spahr in January, devotes his practice to public/private partnerships (P3), energy, environmental matters, economic development, health care, and higher education, with an emphasis on infrastructure.
