Lynn E. Rzonca, a noted intellectual property attorney and the managing partner of the Philadelphia office of Ballard Spahr LLP, was named a Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the National Association of Women Business Owners.

The award is given to women who are leaders in their professions and communities. Ms. Rzonca will receive the award at the groups' annual awards banquet on December 1 at the Sheraton City Center Hotel. The award winners will be profiled in a special section of the Business Journal on November 27.

"Lynn is a true example to young men and women in the legal profession," Ballard Spahr Chair Arthur Makadon said. "She is active in her community, takes time to mentor young people while maintaining a thriving legal practice, and is involved in numerous charitable organizations. This award confirms what we already know…Lynn is an achiever."

Ms. Rzonca was recently recognized for her mentoring work in Philadelphia Magazine's Best of Philly edition. She also was honored by Governor Edward G. Rendell as one of the Best 50 Women in Business.

Ms. Rzonca is a member of the board of directors of the Juvenile Law Center and the Pennsylvania SPCA. She is a member of the advisory board for the Children's Justice Clinic at the Rutgers University School of Law, and is a volunteer with the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and the national Wills For Heroes program, which provides free estate planning for first responders.
