Last week, a debate ensued between progressives and conservatives over the widely known acronym "CFPB" – Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The legal name of the organization is the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection – thus creating the debate over whether or not "CFPB" is an accurate term. Conservatives say that the bureau should refer to itself as the BCFP.

However, observers on both sides of the political spectrum say efforts to change the name are just not working. Ballard Spahr attorney, Alan Kaplinsky, says the firm "will continue to use CFPB until others have made the switch" to BCFP because that is the term that readers are more familiar with.
