Reports surfaced that Web Labs Inc. inadvertently displayed webpages containing customer addresses and lockbox codes that could have allowed thieves to break into homes. While the information exposed did not include the kind of personal data requiring notification under many state laws, Ballard Spahr Partner Edward J. McAndrew notes "if any customers were to suffer harm on the basis of information taken from the site, the company could face civil penalties under state tort laws."
