A group of individuals whose credit or debit cards were compromised after making purchases at GameStop retailers brought a class action lawsuit against the company. They claim GameStop's poor cybersecurity programs made them vulnerable to thefts.

The plaintiffs are seeking monetary damages and recently asked a judge to approve a proposed settlement. The settlement would offer victims of the data breach $15 an hour for up to three hours of time spent dealing with reversing fraud charges and replacing cards, $22 per affected card, and $120 for fraud protection.

Individuals can also file to have other losses such as bank fees, card reissuance fees, overdraft fees, and late fees due to unavailability of funds compensated. Ballard Spahr's Ed McAndrew is representing GameStop in the lawsuit.
