Remember 1987? President Reagan challenged Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall," college undergrads fueled finals week all-nighters with the newly introduce Red Bull energy drink, and Gordon Gekko made us hate (and envy) his soulless corporate raiding with the still-infamous missive, "greed, for lack of a better word, is good."

It was also the year that burgeoning Philadelphia law firm Ballard Spahr established an office in Salt Lake City, its second in the West. Founded in 1885, Ballard Spahr now extends to 14 offices with more than 500 attorneys nationwide, including more than 30 based in Salt Lake City.
