Five years ago, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) officially opened its doors for business. Since then, the CFPB has embarked on unprecedented initiatives that have dramatically changed the face of the consumer financial services industry. Despite the continuing legislative and judicial challenges to its structure, we expect no slowdown in the CFPB's aggressive pursuit of its agenda. In this webinar, we will take a comprehensive look at the CFPB's major initiatives during its first five years and what to expect during the remainder of 2016 and beyond.

Topics

  • The status of rules involving arbitration, debt collection, payday and deposit advance loans, overdraft fees, and prepaid cards
  • The CFPB's approach to implementation of the new mortgage rules and what to expect in the next five years
  • The CFPB's continuing focus on fair lending in auto finance and mortgage lending
  • Student loan developments, including the CFPB's ongoing efforts to recast the interactions between borrowers and student loan servicers as a fiduciary relationship
  • CFPB supervisory activity, including the industries that may be future candidates for "larger participant" supervision
  • CFPB enforcement activity, including how the CFPB has used its authority to prohibit "abusive" practices and the industries that may be future enforcement targets
  • Status of legislative and judicial challenges to the CFPB's structure
