Ballard Women facilitates internal and external networking as well as professional development activities that support the success and advancement of female lawyers and clients. Through programming, mentoring, and sponsorship, the group works to improve the professional experience and bolster the trajectory of women lawyers and to advance them into key participation and leadership roles, both inside and outside the firm. The group is committed to helping the firm develop and retain the next generation of successful female lawyers and law firm leaders.

Our signature programs include:

Board Initiative: A program that connects female associates, of counsel, counsel, and attorneys with local opportunities for board membership.

Networking Events: Ballard Women hosts a variety of networking events designed to foster and develop client relationships.

Professional Development Programming: We engage in a variety of programs that help female lawyers at the firm to define their career paths, learn new skills, and navigate the challenges and opportunities of law firm life.

Path to Partnership: Newly elected partners share their journey to partnership at the firm.

Support Women-owned Enterprises: We participate in, lead, and support organizations with the goals of advancing women.

  • We are a founding circle sponsor of Women Owned Law, which provides opportunities for women legal entrepreneurs to come together, support one another, and help businesses prosper.
  • Black Girl Ventures is a group that raises capital for businesses owned by Philadelphia-based minority women entrepreneurs.
  • Minnesota Women Lawyers is a group dedicated to advancing the success of women in the legal profession and to strive for a just society.
  • Corporate Counsel Women of Color is a not-for-profit organization of women attorneys of color who hold legal and corporate positions at leading companies in the United States of America and abroad.
  • The Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association is a vehicle for women in the legal profession to address the issues and problems of particular interest to African American women.
  • Women Lawyers of Utah advocates for the advancement and retention of women lawyers in Utah and for the general interests of women in the state. It provides professional development and networking events and offers a strong community of support for members.
  • Forum of Executive Women is a membership organization of women of influence across the Greater Philadelphia region. Its mission is to leverage the power of executive women in the region to advance the impact and influence of women leaders across a broad spectrum of society.
  • DirectWomen is a national nonprofit that works to increase the representation of women lawyers on corporate boards.
  • Women's Way is a nonprofit organization empowering organizations and individuals to take action to support equal opportunity for women and girls and gender equality for all.
  • Girls Inc. is a program that aims to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through direct service and advocacy.
  • Global Rights for Women is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with partners around the world to promote women's human rights to equality and freedom from violence through legal reform and systems change.
  • Malala Fund is an international, nonprofit organization that fights for girls' education. It was founded by Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, and her father, Ziauddin.
  • Baltimore Women's Advisory Board, Greater Baltimore Committee, which works to position Baltimore as a national leader in gender equality, with our emerging leaders representing a diverse and broad group of talent
