The Department of Justice and the FBI announced arrests of 60 individuals across the country in connection with mortgage fraud investigations. These arrests are part of the government's "Operation Malicious Mortgage." To date, more than 400 individuals have been charged with mortgage fraud.

Yesterday's announcement is just one more signal that the government is casting its net very wide and devoting major resources to investigating and prosecuting these cases. It is likely that similar announcements can be expected in the future.
