Now that the summer break is over, Montgomery County, Maryland, is in the midst of a busy season during which new land use laws, regulations, and plans are in the works and will shape the county's future. Both the County Council and the County Planning Board have busy agendas for the rest of the year, including:

The Planning Board, and then the County Council, will also be in various stages of reviewing and adopting other master plans, including White Flint 2, Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Area, Rock Spring, and the MARC Rail Communities (including Boyds and Germanton), as well as adopting new Recreation Guidelines.

Below are some key dates related to these ongoing matters (dates are based on current information but are subject to change). Listings for recent hearings and meetings are included for those who are interested in reviewing Council or Planning Board minutes or other materials. County Council meetings take place at 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville. County Planning Board meetings take place at 8787 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring.

If you have questions or would like to discuss any of these or related matters, please contact Emily Vaias of the firm's Zoning and Land Use practice at 202.661.2239 or, or the Ballard Spahr attorney with whom you normally work.
