Barbara A. Casey focuses on real property acquisition, development, sales, leasing, and commercial lending. Barbara represents numerous clients before local planning and zoning boards to obtain land-use approvals, variances, and other zoning approvals.
Barbara represents clients in the registration and development of condominium and homeowners' association and time-share projects, including mixed-use projects. Additionally, she represents purchasers and sellers in large commercial transactions; negotiates acquisition and development contracts, including construction contracts; negotiates commercial leases for tenants and landlords; and represents lenders and borrowers in large commercial loan transactions. Barbara represents numerous clients in redevelopment projects throughout New Jersey, assisting them in the negotiation and implementation of redevelopment area designations, redevelopment plans, redevelopment agreements, financial agreements, development approvals, and financing.
Between 1997 and 2001, Barbara served as Solicitor for Voorhees Township in Camden County, New Jersey.
Pro Bono Experience
Barbara has represented numerous nonprofit clients through Ballard Spahr's pro bono efforts in various real estate matters including the leasing and acquisition of real estate for use as a charter school, obtaining land use approvals for affordable housing, education, and community service organizations and programs, converting a cooperative project into a condominium, and creating housing for disadvantaged youth.
Her New Jersey pro bono clients include Eco Charter School, The Work Group, Urban Promise Ministries, Habitat for Humanity Burlington County, Habitat for Humanity Newark, and the Plainfield Area YMCA.Barbara also has represented Living Faith Christian Center and Victory in Christ Christian Center in land use and real estate transactions and has represented the ARC Gloucester County in various real estate transactions.
