Marc J. Weinstein is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation, Consumer Class Action Litigation, and Corporate and Government Investigations and White Collar Defense Groups. He concentrates his practice on federal and state criminal defense matters and complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Weinstein's white collar practice includes representing individuals and businesses under investigation for, or charged with, criminal offenses. He has handled matters related to federal tax offenses, structuring financial transactions, money laundering, harboring and transporting aliens, mortgage fraud, public corruption offenses, narcotics trafficking offenses, Medicare fraud, and grand theft, among others. His clients have included elected officials, police officers, attorneys, physicians, CEOs, and corporations. Mr. Weinstein's criminal litigation experience includes serving as lead counsel in 45 jury trials.
Mr. Weinstein's commercial litigation practice includes experience serving as counsel to a receiver charged with recovering and liquidating the assets of a failed multimillion-dollar insurance company in multiple subsidiary matters. In the course of representing the receiver, he participated in the litigation of claims against the former officers and directors of the failed insurance company for civil theft, civil conspiracy, and civil RICO.
Mr. Weinstein also has experience in all phases of discovery, motions practice, and partnering with forensic accountants in the review of questionable financial transactions. He has represented clients in a number of AAA arbitrations arising out of commercial contract disputes.
Mr. Weinstein is a former assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney, Miami-Dade County, Florida.
