Bart I. Mellits is Chair of Ballard Spahr's Real Estate Department. He has extensive experience in a variety of leasing, acquisition, development, and loan transactions, as well as real estate workouts.
Mr. Mellits has represented commercial landlords and tenants nationwide in retail leases, large-scale office leases, "big box" industrial and warehouse leases, mixed-use project leases, ground leases, and bondable and other types of financing leases. A considerable part of his development practice involves biotech parks, R&D facilities, and medical buildings for a variety of developers and institutions, including public and private universities. In addition, Mr. Mellits has structured numerous brownfield developments and build-to-suit projects. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, lending institutions, and national retailers, in addition to local and regional real estate developers. Mr. Mellits also counsels a variety of for-profit and nonprofit corporate clients on real estate issues affecting their businesses.
Mr. Mellits is a member of the firm's Elected Board as well as its Expanded Board.
