J. Gibson Lanier is an associate in the Intellectual Property Department and a member of the biotechnology, medical technology, and pharmaceutical practice teams in the Patents Group.
Dr. Lanier previously served as a post-doctoral fellow at Emory University in the lab of Dr. Rafi Ahmed. The Ahmed Lab is regarded as the foremost authority on T cell memory, and Dr. Lanier brings extensive knowledge in that aspect of science. His research focused primarily on the effects of heterologous infections on the maintenance of immunological memory. Through this work, he has extensive experience with multiple bacterial, parasitic, and viral infectious systems. Additionally, his research focused on B cell memory and effector responses, identifying a novel pre-plasma cell population in the process. Dr. Lanier has applied his knowledge to inventions associated with molecular biology, infectious disease, immunological responses, cancer treatments, stem cells, and vaccine development.
