Mark D. Jackson is of counsel in the Real Estate Department and a member of the Commercial Real Estate Recovery, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Leasing, REITs, and Planned Communities and Condominiums Groups. He regularly represents real estate developers and end users (including big-box retailers) in acquiring, disposing of, and financing real estate, and in managing and leasing real estate projects. He also represents lenders and other institutional investors making real estate and other asset-based loans and structured debt and equity investments.
Mr. Jackson's clients include owners, developers, and managers of office buildings, residential buildings and communities, research and development facilities, commercial shopping centers, and mixed-use projects. He works in all aspects of office, retail, and industrial leasing, representing Fortune 500 companies, high-tech ventures, telecommunications companies, and professional firms in their acquisition, leasing, and other real estate transactions, including construction of their headquarters facilities. Retail development and leasing constitutes a substantial part of his practice.
Mr. Jackson advises lenders, property owners, and individual investors in dealing with problem loans and other investments involving recourse liabilities. He has represented clients acquiring and/or constructing projects using private and public sources of funds, including taxable and tax-exempt financing and similar programs.
Mr. Jackson is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and his clients include developers of strip shopping centers, town and lifestyle centers, and other retail developments, as well as various prominent national and regional retailers.
