Christopher Steven Chow is of counsel in the Litigation Department and a member of the Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Capital Recovery Group and the Municipal Recovery Initiative. He focuses on representing and advising corporate debtors, creditors, and purchasers in complex Chapter 11 reorganization and liquidation proceedings, including prepackaged and pre-negotiated restructurings.
Mr. Chow has prosecuted and defended motions seeking relief from the automatic stay, assumption, and rejection of executory contracts; equitable subordination; appointment of trustees; objections to claims; and plan and disclosure statement objections. He negotiates and drafts reorganization plans, liquidating plans, asset purchase agreements, debtor-in-possession financing, and cash collateral orders. In addition, he has significant experience advising on such complex commercial issues as contract interpretation and enforcement, lender liability, asbestos litigation, regulatory agency oversight, and fraudulent transfer and preference recovery litigation.
Pro Bono Experience
Mr. Chow has recently provided pro bono legal service to the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Child Rights Information Network. Also, through the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, he prepared voting rights manuals for voter education leading up to the 2004 presidential election and published a parent handbook for education to address the discriminatory impact of the No Child Left Behind Act.
