Steven A. Arbittier is senior counsel in the Litigation Department and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation, Construction, and Construction Dispute Resolution Groups. He has been litigating and arbitrating major construction disputes locally and nationally for more than 40 years, representing owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.

Mr. Arbittier has handled major construction disputes in all aspects of construction, including power plants, mining, casinos, hotels, paper-machine plants, highways, high-rise commercial and residential, shopping centers, hospitals, laboratories, sports stadiums, and convention centers. As lead counsel, he has tried multimillion-dollar delay and disruption cases in court and in arbitration, both for plaintiffs and defendants. He enjoys a national reputation as a construction arbitrator and mediator.

Publications

Mr. Arbittier is the author of publications on Pennsylvania construction law, Pennsylvania mechanic's liens, and civil procedure in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court. Since 1982, he has been editor of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Civil Practice Manual (now in its 10th edition), the most widely used source book on procedure in the local courts.
