Sharifa A. Anderson is an associate in the Public Finance Department and a member of the Housing Group.

Before joining Ballard Spahr, Ms. Anderson was a Legal Honors Clerk and Attorney Advisor at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she primarily served as program counsel for Ginnie Mae, but also gained experience reviewing evidentiary submissions for mixed-finance transactions and clarifying regulatory requirements for a variety of HUD programs, including public housing, Section 8, Section 202, and HUD-insured loans.

Ms. Anderson has broad experience in the areas of urban education, affordable housing, and community development policy. In the summer of 2009, she served as an education pioneers fellow with Teach for America. Before entering law school, Ms. Anderson held various positions at Fannie Mae, where she was responsible for research, analysis, and evaluation that helped inform affordable housing policy and business strategy. She also previously served as a Mayoral Fellow for Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development, where she assisted in designing and implementing an urban redevelopment plan to acquire and clear title to 5,000 vacant properties.

During law school, Ms. Anderson clerked for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and was a Teaching Assistant for Real Estate Law at Wharton Undergraduate School of Business.
