Paul J. Koob focuses on complex civil litigation and white collar criminal defense. He has defended companies and individuals in federal and state criminal investigations involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), embezzlement, and public corruption, including bribery and honest services fraud.
Mr. Koob's complex civil litigation experience includes defending claims under the federal antitrust laws, federal and state securities laws, business torts, and breach of contract claims. He also has experience with complex discovery issues, particularly in the area of spoliation of evidence.
Before joining Ballard Spahr, Mr. Koob served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor and won multiple verdicts on behalf of the Secretary of Labor. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Koob prepared, defended, and deposed both fact and expert witnesses as well as orchestrated complex settlement negotiations. While in law school, Mr. Koob worked as an intern with the U.S. Attorneys' Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
