In 1978, nearly a century after its founding in Philadelphia, Ballard Spahr began its expansion with the opening of an office in Washington, D.C. Today, the Washington office is one of the firm's largest and is a recognized leader in energy and project finance, housing, public finance and public-private partnerships, real estate and real estate finance, mortgage banking, and tax.

Our attorneys take an active role in the civic life of their communities, serving in leadership positions with Habitat for Humanity and New Hope Housing Inc., among others. Pro bono service is a hallmark of the firm, and our Washington attorneys devote hundreds of hours to pro bono cases every year. Attorneys and staff in Washington support many worthy causes, including a number that provide assistance to homeless men and women.

Joseph A. Fanone, Managing Partner
Wendy D. Iversen, Office Administrator

Each of Ballard Spahr's 14 offices uniquely reflects the practices of its attorneys and the clients they serve, its market and industry focus, and the city it calls home. More than individual dots on a map, these offices are part of an interlocking whole that hums with the energy of attorneys working together and drawing on their collective experience for clients around the world.
