Corey Field, of counsel in Ballard Spahr's Los Angeles office, is the principal author of a new legal treatise on entertainment law published by Law Journal Press of New York.

Entertainment Law: Forms and Analysis was written by Mr. Field, who also serves as President of The Copyright Society of the U.S.A. The advisory co-author of the treatise is Barry I. Slotnick of Loeb & Loeb LLP’s New York office.

At more than 700 pages, plus sample legal forms, Entertainment Law: Forms and Analysis is available online and in print. Both versions will be updated annually with additional topics and new legal developments. The treatise, which offers in-depth coverage of the legal issues and industry practices that shape entertainment industry transactions, is designed to provide quick answers to questions encountered in an entertainment law practice. The seven-chapter book covers topics such as: 

  • Copyright and trademark law and its role in marketing and merchandising 
  • Film, television, and live theatre, with a chronological approach to the tasks an entertainment lawyer will encounter at every stage of a project

Before practicing law, Mr. Field was an executive in the international music publishing industry, and the treatise reflects his practical as well as legal experience in entertainment law. He is widely published in scholarly and industry publications, and his work on behalf of his clients has been recognized by his inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for Copyright and Entertainment Law, and in Chambers U.S.A. for Intellectual Property Law.
