Ballard Spahr has been recognized as one of 2011’s Best Law Firms for Women, according to an annual survey conducted by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) & Flex-Time Lawyers.
Winning law firms were selected based on such categories as family-friendly benefits and policies, time flexibility, development and retention of women, leadership opportunities, and advancement and compensation of women. Women constitute 25 percent of equity partners at Ballard Spahr, compared to the national average of 15 percent, as reported in the 2010 National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) Survey.
“We are honored to be named as one of the nation’s top law firms for women. Women have found Ballard to be a successful place to practice for a long, long time. The firm has consistently shown its commitment to the advancement of our women attorneys through mentoring, networking, and professional development opportunities, and this latest ranking is a result of those efforts,” said Jennifer L. Miller, the partner who leads the firm’s women’s initiatives.
Ballard Spahr’s commitment to diversity and women’s initiatives is longstanding and offers participation in several affinity groups to support and retain women lawyers. The firm continuously seeks ways to improve programs and policies that help all of its lawyers succeed.
“We are particularly indebted to our Ballard Women group for helping the firm to shape the experience of the female lawyers here,” Ballard Spahr Chair Mark Stewart said. “They have been leaders in business development and have helped the firm understand what needs to be done to create an atmosphere in which our women lawyers flourish.”
