Craig J. Knobbe has joined Ballard Spahr as of counsel in the Business & Finance Department's Franchise and Distribution Group, Managing Partner Roger P. Thomasch has announced. Mr. Knobbe is resident in the firm's Denver office.

The addition of Mr. Knobbe further positions Ballard Spahr as an industry leader in franchising and distribution law.

"Our franchising group is busy and successful, and, quite simply, we need to expand to meet the needs of our clients," Mr. Thomasch said. "Craig has worked with members of our franchise team before and has had a good deal of success in this area. It's a natural fit, and we look forward to having Craig at Ballard."

Mr. Knobbe's experience includes drafting and registering franchise disclosure documents, advising on registration laws and franchisee relations, counseling franchisors on expansion in Canada and Mexico, and handling transactions involving both the sale and purchase of assets by a franchise company.

"Ballard has a nationally recognized franchise and distribution practice and is one of a few firms in Denver with extensive experience in this type of legal work," Mr. Knobbe said. "I look forward to rejoining an excellent group of attorneys."

Mr. Knobbe is a graduate of the University of Arizona and received his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he was a Research & Technical Editor for the Denver University Law Review.
