Ballard Spahr’s Atlanta office grew this week with the addition of five new attorneys: four partners from Schiff Hardin―Han C. Choi, Ethan H. Cohen, Byung J. Pak and Tracy S. Plott―and one of counsel from Miller & Martin, Isidor J. Kim.
All five attorneys practice in different areas. Mr. Choi is a public-finance attorney; Ms. Plott handles real estate financing; Mr. Pak is a white-collar litigator; Mr. Cohen is a corporate and securities litigator; and Mr. Kim is a litigator who also handles transactional and employment issues.
The group brings a range of new abilities to Ballard’s Atlanta offices, which was founded upon the acquisition of the intellectual property boutique Needle & Rosenberg in 2008.
Sumner Rosenberg, the Atlanta office’s Managing Partner, said that the addition of the attorneys is part of a larger plan to expand the office’s practice beyond IP. “The economy got in the way,” he said. “We hope this gives us the critical mass so the Atlanta office can develop into other areas, so we’re not known solely for intellectual property down here.”
